Privacy Policy

This notice describes information used by the current QiaoInk account and reading features and by the translation workflow being prepared.

Information you provide

Account information includes your email address, display name, verification status and password-derived credentials. A password is checked using a salted hash rather than stored as readable password text. You may also provide a profile picture, author profile, chapters, reviews or other content.

Account-linked features can store saved books, follows, translation requests and reading preferences. Public profile details and content submitted for public display can be seen by other visitors; your account email is not presented as your public contact address by these pages.

Cookies and browser storage

QiaoInk uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. Browser storage also keeps preferences such as reading language, reader appearance and reading position, plus some local interface state. Clearing browser storage can remove those local settings; it does not by itself delete your account or database records.

Why information is used

QiaoInk uses information to provide accounts, verify email addresses, display contributions, maintain reading features and protect the service. Account endpoints use request information, including IP-based rate-limit keys, to limit abuse.

Service providers

Cloudflare provides website, Worker and database infrastructure. Resend delivers transactional messages such as verification emails and receives the information needed to send them. When an authorized AI-assisted translation is requested, source text and relevant glossary or editorial context are sent to the configured translation provider; the current implementation uses OpenAI.

Provider processing is subject to the relevant service arrangements. This notice makes no claim that providers retain no data or that their settings have already been reviewed for every intended use.

Tracking and future payment features

This release adds no analytics, advertising tracking, payment infrastructure or additional consent system. Planned Credits, reading unlocks and direct author support are not active payment services. Any future financial-data processing will need its own accurate disclosures before activation.

Control and retention

You can edit supported profile fields and your avatar through your account. For privacy questions, corrections or an account or deletion request, email contact@qiaoink.com. Operational records and backups require separate handling from editing a public profile.

QiaoInk honors account and deletion requests while permitting limited retention where reasonably necessary for legal obligations, security, fraud or abuse prevention, transaction and accounting records, rights and authorization evidence, dispute handling or other legitimate operational requirements. Retained information is limited to what is reasonably needed for those purposes and kept only for as long as reasonably necessary. A deletion request does not result in immediate deletion of every record, and this policy does not authorize indefinite retention.

Security

Account safeguards include verification, restricted session cookies, password hashing and upload validation. No website can guarantee absolute security. Avoid including private information in material you intend to publish.
